SpicesExpo Cesena Fiera

The Expo

The Spices & Herbs Global Expo is the first event in Europe entirely dedicated to the world of spices and officinal and aromatic herbs.
The Exhibition will take place on Tuesday 5, Wednesday 6 and Thursday 7 May 2020 from 9:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Rimini Expo Centre.
The city of Rimini, located by the sea, is a melting pot of art, culture and entertainment, and can be easily reached either from Bologna airport (about 110 km away) or by train (Milan-Bari line), stopping at the station located inside the exhibition centre.

The global spice market is worth approximately €8 billion and grows annually by 6-8%. This sector is attracting increasing interest in many areas: retail, specialised retail, HoReCa, etc. Specifically, in the commercial catering sector, there is an increase in demand due to the spread of ethnic restaurants and the tendency to use mainly natural products as food colourings and preservatives.

It is estimated that the European officinal herb market has an annual volume of 450,000 tonnes of herbs and derived products.  In Europe, there are approximately 150,000 - 200,000 hectares of cultivated land. Officinal plants, as well as spices, are gaining in popularity due to their variety of uses. Aside from being used in health products, they are also in great demand in the food sector: in fact, aromatic herbs, flavourings and plant-based aromatic preparations are used in meat and beverages, herbs for infusions, etc.
